Say the name Hunt's and most Peorians will get a far-away look in their eyes as they recall juicy beef steak hamburgers, giant pork tenderloins, delicious pies and rich chocolate sodas. Hunt's Restaurant literally served generations of Peoria residents. Originally located on Western Avenue in the early 20th century, the popular dining spot (and popular drive-in for many years) moved to West Farmington Road way back in the 1930s. In the 1950s, Hunt's was the hub of Peoria's car scene with cars full of teens cruising up and down the road and around the parking lot. The Hunt family sold the restaurant in the 1990s, but the restaurant hung on into the 21st century, finally closing around 2005.
