For a few brief years in the late 70s and early 80s, Chicago played host to an annual music festival that became legendary around the country. ChicagoFest was two weeks of great acts and great music on multiple stages at Navy Pier and hundreds of thousands turned out to take in carnival-life atmosphere. Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson, The Commodores, Journey, Kool and the Gang, The Scorpions and Joan Jett are just a few of the stars that performed at ChicagoFest. Sadly, the event fell victim to politics and ended in 1983.
